Partnering with Schools and Organizations for Comprehensive Care

Partnering with Schools and Organizations for Comprehensive Care

When seeking comprehensive care for your child or loved one, partnering with schools and local organizations is an essential first step. Schools offer a range of specialized support services, while local organizations and state programs provide additional resources beyond a school setting. By partnering with schools and organizations, families can access resources, education, and tools for comprehensive care.

School Resources

With school counselors, accessible spaces, early childhood and special education programs, specially trained instructors, and more, school resources are ideal for the comprehensive care of a child. Some specific ways to utilize these resources include:

  • School counselors – Counselors or social workers aid students in their emotional health and overall well-being.
  • Specialized instruction – Special education teachers can tailor their instruction or curriculum to a student’s particular needs and learning styles.
  • Behavior support – Utilized by counselors and instructors, behavioral programs create initiatives to improve behavioral challenges.
  • Speech therapy – Speech therapists or pathologists work to improve a student’s communication, reading, and comprehension skills.
  • Transportation services – Many districts utilize specialized transportation, such as vans or ramp-access buses, to improve accessibility.

While states offer a variety of programs and resources for comprehensive care within schools, Wisconsin’s primary programs are within the Individual Education Programs (IEPs)—designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities. This program ensures that students can get the comprehensive care they need in a learning environment. Once an individual is qualified based on their criteria, they receive a specifically designed education plan for instruction.

Local Organizations

Local nonprofit organizations and community groups are another great resource for information on comprehensive care. Here at Covey, we strive to provide not only direct support to our participants but also information and education for caretakers and family members. Through events, initiatives, classes, and partnering with other organizations, our mission is to foster personal growth amongst all—including knowledge and application of comprehensive care. Check out our Event Calendar for any upcoming events.

We’re proud to partner with local universities that support the Covey mission. UW-Oshkosh and Fox Valley Technical College are our partnering schools that provide opportunities for their students to learn while also helping our organization.
