Accessible Summer Fun in the Greater Fox Valley
It’s officially summer! Sunny days are finally here, which means it’s time to get out and enjoy a Wisconsin summer. Outdoor festivities should be accessible to everyone—whether that’s a stroll through the park, attending a community event, or having a picnic in the park. Fortunately, the Greater Fox Valley area has several spots to make a fun-filled summer accessible to all!
Outdoor Parks
With playgrounds, nature trails, riverside promenades, ponds, and more, the Greater Fox Valley is home to some truly beautiful parks. The great outdoors naturally support accessibility by offering open spaces that create a more comfortable experience for individuals who use wheelchairs or require physical accommodations. Check out some accessible activities at the City’s best parks:
- Menominee Park – This park not only has an accessible lakeside path, but it even has some furry friends! The Menominee Park Zoo has free admission and is open daily from 9:00am – 6:00pm all summer long.
- South Park – In addition to their outdoor splash pad, open spaces, and nature trails, they even have an inclusive playground! South Park has plenty of outdoor activities for all to enjoy.
- Bauman Park – Right along the Fox River, Bauman Park is the perfect place for a summer picnic. Pack your favorite snacks and enjoy some scenic riverside views!
- Asylum Point Park – With an unbeatable ambience, a sunset walk at Asylum Point Park is the best way to spend a summer night in Oshkosh. Right across from Asylum Point Lighthouse, this park is nestled into Lake Winnebago—creating stunning sunset views.

In addition to their space’s physical accommodations—elevators, accessible restrooms, and wheelchair accessible spaces—the library’s naturally quiet and calming environment make it a more sensory-friendly place. They even host outdoor activities, like their Story Garden Chalk Mural happening later this month!
